try this on for size... plus shipping is free

....GULP!...5 GRAND FOR A HELMET?...........

Definitely look into the Motocross/ATV style neck braces.....as stated, they offer collarbone protection and are quite sophisticated...along with the price tag.

I am considering the EVS RC Brace....they are $90.00 to $159.00........check em out on ebay

This is the one I have my eye on:

Thanks John!
Just checked out that EVS unit. $139 and it mentions neck protection against overextension, etc. That was my big concern. I will definitely order this. I'll let you all know how it goes.

Please do!

Waiting for the next payday and I may order mine.
I talked to my buddy who a rep for motocross Accessories, he said it works and it still allows you mobility.
He feels it would be a good fit for our application. Our accidents are not as severe as super cross/motocross.
(I am sure that could be debated......but that's for another discussion)

?????????? OOOOPPPSS THe posted reply should have been, THat sounds like a reasonable price. Wonder if they will take alot to get used to? Or if they will be comfortable off the bat?? Tried to do two things at once. Don't have a clue where COW came from... :bash:. On the accidents, we had a doosey last season. So the more protection, the better.

Brother...I have heard some horrific stories!.......But you have survived!

Neck Collarbone accidents are more prevalent in motocross, and that is not to say it cannot happen in our sport.

Tried an EVS RC on last night at the local Bike Shop. Seems to have very good mobility and is comfortable.
I ordered mine last night. (bike shop was well over $200.00)...and they other ones for $800-$1200+. Of course, that's what they tried selling me first.

I ordered mine last night. I think its a pretty reasonable price. $140 bucks out the door. The reason I did so is because I've had enough accidents already and one of the worst injuries is neck injury. It can make you paralyzed. Of course breaking an arm would suck too because I would be out of work for awhile. But I can deal with that. Anyway, I am really glad that there are now affordable options out there. I remember a few years ago it seemed like all of these were like $1,000. I'll mention the results when it comes in the mail.

Well, I ordered the EVS neck support last Saturday and got it Monday. That was fast. I ordered it from Amazon. I am pretty pleased with the unit. I am around 135 pounds and ordered the medium sized unit. It fits me fine. I imagine some of you bigger guys will need to order the large size. Its comfortable and can be adjusted to fit. The support seems to be made out of some plastic composite material and is semi-flexible. Not sure if its as supportive as the carbon fiber units, but its certainly better than nothing.

Again, I applaud all who take the money from their budgets and buy these things, It's hard to spend money on something that does not make you faster. However these things give you a much greater chance return for the next battle.

Hey Flipper I have the RC Evo and really like it.  When I wrecked last year, it kept my neck straight and secure.  I would also attribute that I didnt break a collar bone too because of it..  I am with you all on the good equipment..  My daughter and wife need me to stick around for a while..

The best part is that its not that heavy. I can barely tell it was on. My one big complaint is that its a pain to get off and on. We tend to rush getting ready for heat races and main events so throwing it on isn't as quick as tossing on a simple neck collar. You also almost need someone to snug it up from the back. The neck collar that's built into it is way more comfortable than the cheap foam one I now have. What's nice too is that once you put your helmet it will rest slightly on the back of the support. That will be nice when we have one of those all-weekend fair events where we're on the mowers all day. It'll keep my neck from getting tired.
