Lower cost neck supports?
« on: March 28, 2011, 11:41:26 am »
I am seriously thinking about investing in one of those carbon fiber neck braces. It seemed that forever they were like $1,000. But the other day I was looking around and saw something like this: Its $289. Still steep, but doable.

Be sure and check it out, some of those styles are meant to be used with seat belts, that one does not say it is so it might be the right one. WOuld hate to see you spend that kind of dough on the wrong thing!

It does look like a style used with five point harness,
where the shoulder belts hold it in position

I use a Leat Neck brace, cost a little more and it has a foreward support. You almost there with the cost. Collar bones are nice to save, but they will heal, overextend your spinial cord,..... we know how that turns out.

Like I've heard say, a $10 helmet for a $10 head?

I absoulety commend  you for looking!!!!!!!!

If the hardness of ones head is directly related to the quality of helmet required, some days I could race with just a ball cap on!!!!!!!

I think I'm going to spring for it. Sure- its a little pricey. But seeing as how we're basically running without any sort of protection- like rollbars, safety cages, I'm thinking it might not be a bad idea.

Please keep us informed about how it fits and how you like it. Might be something more of us should look at.
