gary he is working with midwest on the kawi parts... drew, julian jr., and myself have been friends for quite a while... drew if you get some kaw parts made... would deffinately be interested in a flywheel for the 540... thats about the only thing stopping me from buildin it...
There's somethin' in the works...

We are working on rod/crank combos and flywheels.

Got the fuel tank mount done.

I think on the rest of the frame I'm going to do stuff a little differently.  I messed up on the rear fender mount so I'm going to make a thin plate to cover up most of the space in the back.

I also measured the frame to 4 1/4 inches w/out air in the rear tires. when i put about 5 in the left rear and 15 in the right it takes the frame up over 5 inches so I'm going to make a adjustable rear bearing cassette because I don't have any frame room left to move it up without compromising the frame.  That will be Tuesdays adventure I think.  From what I've read on here I decided to go with turf masters on front and back.

Also don't forget, as your dropping the rear end with the cassettes, you need to maintain the clearance between tire and fender as the rule book says. I know ARMA says you can trim the fenders. But must leave 1 inch of vertical material. And also have to keep 1/2 between fender and tire. Which if memory serves me correct you can only cut about 1/4-3/8 from the fender lip. Hope this helps

I'm going to have to "raise" the fenders 3 5/8" I think.  They should bend enough to where it will mount okay to the dash holes.  I'm going to set the frame at 4 1/4" inches with 10 lbs of air in the tires.

I had to raise mine last season when I first built it but can't remember how much. I think only like 3/4 inch. A lot depends on where your tranny is in the frame. You might wanna do yourself a favor and not use the original mounts inder the dash. Reason I suggest is because if your at the track and have to swap out a tranny or something, it can be a pain to get the bolts out in a hurry. I weldeda 3/4 round tube moly kicker off each side and then drilled and tapped those. Easy on and easy off in a hurry.

I had to raise My Boy's JD111 about 3" in the rear and about 1.5" in the front to keep it from looking like it was leaning forward too much.http://i582.photobucket.com/albums/ss270/Mowjoeracing/DSCF2135.jpg

Thanks. I was debating on using pzues *spelling* fastners to hold the dash and the lower green vent on for quick removal.  I'm at a stand still for now until i get the spindles made.  I know for sure I'll be at Circleville watching, because we will be garden tractor pulling there also with Hilliard.  I probably will watch at danville too.  My goal is to be running july 4th.
@mowjoe, that looks really sharp.  Does there seem to be any cracking where the fenders meet the bottom of the dash?
Also anyone interested in a fc540v flywheel let me know.  The more we get the cheaper they will be.

Thanks. You can not see them but I welded foot peg like supports under the the fenders to carry the weight.

Cool I'm lookin forward to meetin ya. I will definately be at all the ARMA races in ohio for sure. Ill let ya check out my ride when we cross paths. Ask chad, it is definately different from the rest. Especially since this winter it got a total remake.
Dzues fastners on the valence may or may not be a good idea I'm not sure. I use 2 to hold my hood down. Dash and valence are mounted solid. BUT, the reasin I get away with that is I trimmed the section that is supposed to go up under the dash. Then after racing a couple times I realized the mounts I had were flexing so I went to the 3/4 moly. Now when I push my right foot down hard, my fenders no longer flex.

So I've been busy as I'm sure you all have.  Finally got to work on it a bit more for the first time in three weeks.  I was having withdrawals.

got the fender deck mounts done except for the vertical supports which I will integrate the shifter into since this is a heavy frame to start with.

I'm running out of time so I cheated and bought a grasscar front axle

I will try to get a pic of the underside of the axle to show how i welded it in.

I changed my mind for now and am going with a kohler command engine.  I have a sponsorship that will get me cheaper kohler parts so it makes sense.  I am still working with them on kawasaki parts but that will be late this year.

After some minor fender work and beating them back to their original shape *previous owner liked to back into trees* this is where I'm at.  After about 5 total days of work this is where I'm at.

That is likely because mower brakes suck!

So I finally broke down and bought a transmission from EC and i decided I'm going to try to have as much weight in the middle of the frame as possible.  The fender deck leaves enough room to hook the shifter up to it.  My first attempt at bondo didn't work so well.

I'm going to mount my battery in front of on my transmission.

I think I'm going to put the brake on the left tire outside the frame.

After a little body work I see its going to take a lot more time.
