Got a question... working on a GX390 and tore it apart last night. What is the spring loaded mechanism on the cam? I am pulling the governor and low oil sensor, putting in a billet rod and a few other parts so does that need to be on the cam? Looks like it is held on by a few press pins...

I have a full blown race motor and mine is still intact. Haven't had any problems, and can still use the stock starter.

Ok, yea it will be a full blown racing motor next year.... this year just pull-start billet flywheel and rod. doing cam next year. It looks like it is a pretty "sturdy" setup on the cam, pins look good and heavy on everything

I used pull start all last year and never had any issues as long as I pulled on the compression stroke. Besides, you have less weight without the starter and battery. Also I don't think anyone makes a billet flywheel with a ring gear right now.

Maybe they do. I never seen it on there website, but I never looked real hard either. Tim from EES told me couple weeks ago that he is not a big fan of them. Says they aren't heavy enough and start causing other parts to break. I don't run one yet so I really can't prove this. Has anyone else had this issue?

Lighter is not always better. You need some weight to balance everything out. If not you will have vibration and that causes havoc on everything else.
