Many times, depending on application, they drive off of the flywheel side.
There is a stub shaft bolted to that side of the engine which you will be removing anyway. That engine will work fine. I have several of them that I use.

my concerns with it is that the crank shaft is longer having to go through the fly and then a clucth set up, that it may be too long of shaft to support the load of racing.

Your clutch doesn't go on the flywheel side. That is a stub shaft that you will remove, leaving just the flywheel. Your clutch will go on the PTO end and some of them are as long as 4-5 inches. It's probably an 1 1/8 shaft which we always turn down to 1 inch and cut them to the length needed.

I think you're confusing yourself. There is a stub shaft that is bolted to the flywheel. When you take this stub shaft off, all of the cranks are the same at that end. You will be putting your clutch on the opposite end or the PTO end of the crank.

So then you have a motor that came off of a piece of equipment that didn't use a PTO. Some of the engines were used on things like welders, generators, conv. belts etc.....
Sorry....I guess that wasn't clear from the beginning.
Like Squidd said....

bluedemon I bought that motor ser # 3223905471. It's very rough. Needs boring from corrosion. Almost didn't get the starter off. Two broken bolts, one in the valve cover and one on the throttle plate. One bent exhaust pushrod. expensive rebuild. I haven't removed the crank yet. I found a verticle crank for 100.00, the extra crank that came with it will need the pto worked on if 2.0 isn't enough for the 1.0 part.
