its been a while since i have been able to work on my mower. moved to utah and had a new baby. but finally found some time to get a few things done

i built a complete new frame built to the same exact specs. i found a few places that were tweaked a little to much to fix.  i built the reinforcing rails and put on my new ec front axle

i also built my hood support and added the bearing slots for my steering shaft

got the steering all setup just need to get a new piece of 5/8 rod to tie it all together. next thing i am going to do is build my cassette holders for the rear. got the cassettes on order along with rear hubs and some locking collars. here are some pics just to see it from a different angle

what do you mean it doesn't fit, did you use the hammer?

got a little more done today. i welded a washer on to the bottom of the mounts i built for my steering shaft bearings to keep them from falling out

i also added a slip collar on the shaft for an easy teardown and welded a washer on the shaft above the bearings for a stop

here is my finished steering setup

and i wanted to see how it looked with the tins on so far

so it seems to be coming along pretty good so far. hopefully i can get my rear axle set in soon and order some tires and wheels.  im going to run 12x10x6 hoosiers on the rear but not sure yet what on the front.

finally got some parts ordered in today. tires sprocket hub brake kit engine and adjustable cassettes

forgot to get a photo before i put the rotor on.  also got the caliper mounted directly to the frame. it was one of the easiest things i have done so far on this build like i designed it to fit in place(im not that good)

here are the cassettes mounted up. i decided to go with these just for the fact that i wasnt positive on what my ride height was going to be since i didnt have wheels and tires on hand when i started and i am really glad i did, ride height before any adjustments was 3.75 inches so i lucked out with the new cassettes

also ordered some parts for the engine and a clutch but they were on back order still so hoping to get them soon. here are some photos of my rolling chassis, cant believe how long it has taken me to get this far.

well let me know what you think of it so far

Nice work!

thanks. The tires are 12x9x6 for the rear and the fronts are 11x5.5x6  sprocket hub is made by burris  from bmi karts. The brake kit rims  and cassettes are also from bmi. The engine is the 420cc predator from harbor freight. I picked up a couple of other things as well from bmi and will keep you guys posted as i progress

i got the tires from hoosier mid atlantic. they are having a promo with free shipping right now.  i am running 6x10 on the rear and 6x6.5 on front

got the steering redone and it is only about a quarter turn from lock to lock

I sure would like to have more movement in the steering !
The pitman arm looks very long, that will make it harder to turn .
Also that angle you have in it will make it turn harder and faster ti the kleft.

i  thought about that last night right before bed. I think i am going to drill a couple more holea in it and test it until i find something i like. What is the length that most people would consider normal for the pitman arm

Steering that tight makes it very hard to stay straight better to have some movement so you don't oversteer all the time

got a little more done today. master cylinder and brake lever on. decided to put it on the right side since i will not have very much room on the left with the clutch and all.

also mounted the gas tank into the hood. wasnt able to really find an easy way to do it without cutting a hole in the hood

also got the hood mounted in its final location

and the best part is that all my engine parts came in yesterday

so from what i can tell is that all that is really left to do to the chassis is build my battery box, engine mounts, sheet metal, and relocate my seat. i set the engine in there and it was a little tight in a certain area. this build is proving to be extremely difficult. every time i try to do something i find three reasons as to why it wont work. there are so many things that i am trying to fit into such a small space that i have spent more time in the last 2 weeks scratching my head than turning a wrench. i know all the work will pay off the first time i get to run it though.
