I BELIVE HE RUNS 2 SMALL OPTAMA BATTERIES AND WIRES THEM TO MAKE 24 VOLTS. DEKA MAKES A SMALL AGM THAT I USE. MINE IS ALSO WIERED FOR 24 VOLS. WORKS GREAT.

John...It's 3/4" Pink Heim joint(anodized alum)...I was thinking of you when I got it!!!!!! LOL
Can't remember where I got that.......I kept it around just for test fitting stuff....I use a better-free spinning
Heim joint when I do the final build after paint.(McMaster Carr Bronze bearing Heim)

That Battery is a Dynabatt from Performance Distributors (around $120.00ea).....I keep a dead one around for making the battery trays(made them last night) I recommend the Odyssey PC680, seems to be the best out there. 680cca for a couple seconds. It will turn over a V-8 engine with no problem.
(Avg around $125-$135 ea). These do work  VERY nice, The wife and my brother have them(AP and IMOW-CPR). His went bad and was replaced under warranty. For the old BP, I had the two Dynabatts in there and the both failed after a few years.
I replaced them with much cheaper knock off of the PC680, Hawker Genesis G16EP 37L105S1, they were $83.00ea, I got them from Portable Power Systems in Denver CO, But I have not been able to find them again.
These have been in the BP for a couple years and have been flawless. They don't have as much CCA as the PC680's but, at 24v...who cares. less Amps, less heat, quicker start, nor more moving the flywheel to TDC so it won't lock up under a 12v start.

Now, for this build, I made two battery brackets(Because I have the room)...I probably will use 24v........24v will start any of these engines quickly with less amp draw. Most starters are rated for 36-48 volts anyway.

To be honest, I still have not decided on what this build will be!....Probably a CP-R, but can be changed to a CP, SP, BP.....in seconds...My plan is pursuing CP-R/MOD-X-R class this year, this may be the vehicle.

Good call John!....PC680MJ Sports Battery for $109.00!!!!, that's the best I have seen yet.

Looks good Joey, I have some good info for you.  I'll shoot you an email next week when I have more info.  We have a few a total of six CPR's being built by guys that were at the PALMRA meeting the other week.  We may need to run qualifying heats for this class!  Looking forward to it!

Howie, if I can get the bugs out...yes I will be running the Twins....so that will be one more person you can beat!

Actually I was just on the phone with Grubby tonight, we going over possible causes for the problems - Belt slipping and steering problems. Old Engine is stupid fast and strong as an OX....and I have the new updated Kawi twin from Jayson that is ready to drop in for 2011.

That is next on the chopping block after I finish the MOD-X-R(CP-R).

Vickie's new engine is here and needs to be installed(Mini-AP)....it's a fire breathing monster.

And I have another top secret engine on the way too.....looks like I'll be racing three, maybe four classes.(If the bugs go away)
Looks good Joey, I have some good info for you.  I'll shoot you an email next week when I have more info.  We have a few a total of six CPR's being built by guys that were at the PALMRA meeting the other week.  We may need to run qualifying heats for this class!  Looking forward to it!

Sounds like a plan Dino!...Will be great to join forces with Tri-State an PALMRA. My brother has already finished his, he converted his IMOW over.
Few more weeks on mine(waiting for paint). The mechanical will be done tomorrow or next week.

Good day Saturday, Cold Rain & Snow outside, spent 14 hours in the man cave got quite a bit accomplished, starting to see the light.
Ran the clutch transfer rod (1/2” Steel) with Bonze bushings at each end. This will be held in place with split ring collard.  The left SRC is a double collar  and will act as the clutch actuator(Adjustable and removable) .

Clutch is standard configuration with Factory John Deere OEM Pulleys, they have very large sealed roller bearings. Failure is extremely infrequent.(none in 5 years). Mounted one other flat idler to keep the belt from wandering on the long “Pull” Side.

Drive configuration shall be conventional – Simple and sweet.  A 78’ belt works like a champ. Drive pulley is a EC Billet with a 1-1/8” hub, trans is a 5” billet.    Open for suggestions of any improvements.

Steering System is John Deere L100 series – Modified (Faster)….this system is plush and forgiving. Rough tracks do not “Jerk” the steering wheel.  You do not have to fight this system to steer. I am also going to incorporate a Convertible center pivot steering system on the build too.  A spare set of spindles will have to be made for direct steer.

This is the vehicle so far as a partial assembly. Needs Brake and Clutch Levers, Battery Trays, and Fuel Tank supports, then off to power coating!
