Great looking mower, are the floor boards legal?

I don't see a problem with them. Some people have a little bump on the side of their mower for it. They also look really good.

Nice looking mower.

Looks like you are using Nylock nuts to hold the front wheels on.  I'd advise against them.  Get a castle nut and a cotter key.  I know a guy who runs the nylock and ALWAYS has problems with his out side wheel locking up.  Not safe in my opinion.

I ran the nylocks all season and never had a problem...Until the All American when one locked up on me in practice.
I had "dinged" a spacer and it spun with the wheel causing the nut to  tighten.  New spacer and a new nut fixed it.
Nylocks can be used if everything is ok, but one thing goes wrong and you have a problem. Mine is getting changed!

Will do the same as the nylon nuts. When brand new, they are all really tight.
But when they are taken on and off a few times, they do tend to loosen up
a bit. If you go ahead and build it with the castle nuts, you will take one more
thing out of the equation, that can go wrong. I have several nylon nuts on my
racer, and they are going to be changed this off season to castle nuts.

The pinch style is actually worse than the nylock.  They are only intended for 1 use, and they have to be torqued tight to be effective.   The nylock is the same, but it works becasue of the nylon.

Still think it is unsafe.  The IaLmra and the Missouri Valley Mower Racers don't allow them on front wheels.  Has to be a lock collar or a castle nut with cotter key.

Hmmm...interesting. O.K I'll do that. The reason I used them was because I was able to really fine tune them and get that wheel to spin as freely as possible without sliding side to side on the spindle. But, experience is usually the best teacher. Sounds like you guys have that. This is my first set of wheels with bearings. For the last four or five years I just ran stock wheels and just greased them up before each race day. But last summer at a two day race I forgot to do it before the second day and on the LAST LAP of the LAST race the right one pretty much welded itself to the spindle. So needless to say I decided to upgrade...Thanks for the input

Get yourself some shims to shim up the bearings.  I run mine a little loose as I don't want the bearings locking up when they get hot.  Remember they will expand!  Not so much slop that you can move the wheel on the spindle, but I don't go nuts tightening the nut either.  Use a good sized cotter key and it isn't going anywhere.

Make sure and have the spacer that goes inside the hub between the bearings. Then you won't have the problem of the bearings locking up.

interesting!!! never used them for more than traction and ladder bars on suspension but never tried em on a spindle. I have ayways used the castle nuts. And if your spindles are fine thread you will have plenty of "adjustment" with the spacers to attain the perfect "tightness" of it all
