Kohler Motor ID Req'd: CV18 or CV20?
« on: November 16, 2012, 07:13:00 pm »
All tags removed from tractor and engine. Best I can tell, the tractor might be a 269H. Wondering if 18's ever came with the HD starter....thoughts? Or is there anything telling an 18 apart from a 20?

18/20 are same bore/stroke. What are you wanting to know? Only difference would be is if it is a command or command pro.

Just wondering if it is a 18 or 20.

Is there actually a HP difference or is it just a different sticker?

What is the difference between a Command and Command Pro?

Same cubic inch if command. Command pro has a slightly bigger bore. No noticeable difference. Hp is mostly just a sticker in most of these. Sometimes the only difference is a throttle stop.

I haven't noticed any bore difference from a command to a command pro, they say the pro has hardened rod journal surface and yellow oil cap and so on. The difference between 18-20hp horizontal engines is the throttle stop on the 18hp carburetor, not sure what the differences are on a vertical other then governor spring and jetting.
