gxv390 billet flywheel
« on: September 15, 2010, 01:27:11 pm »
Does anybody know where or who is making billet flywheeels for these engines?I ordered one for a gx390 from arc and the ring gear is different as is the crankshaft taper .Chuck what did you use for a flywheel on yours years ago?I have every thing done to this motor to run 8000rpm.and figured the flywheel would be the easy part as most of the gx parts were interchangeable ,boy thats what i get for thinking.

Back then we were not required to run the billet wheel. We never cut the original wheel and trusted it was safe. I forgot about the flywheel being different. A couple of options would be to make a billet flywheel or see if ARC would make a hub to fit the GXV crank and use the current wheel they offer. Still would need to do something with ring gear.

Remachining the hub for the different taper should not be hard. Any machine shop should be able to do that rather inexpensively.
What is different on the ring gear? Size or pitch?

I would check with Tom at ARC, give them your measurements they might be able to fix you up with the right hub

Parsons only work on the Gx motors
