hey kinda cool, lotsa guys make the rear engine mowers sweet. Is it belt to a transaxle or right from the engine? if its belt  just put a bigger pulley on the engine or a smaller one on the transmission

That's a Snapper... Has a "wheel" that rides on a disc for varying speeds...Not the best set up "as is" for power transmission...

The other thing you want to watch out for is the center "pivot" (main chassis tube) Front end pivots independant of rear...

You could lock the pivot down to stiffen chasis and switch out rear drive to a tranny and live axle...

But that may be mower work than is worthy...

If you like the rear engine set up...Gilson makes a nice one that has been proven on the track..

yeah i know i've had my troubles with the center pivot...... to say the least unstable.  i droped the mower deck and have alot of fun with it off road and going though mud holes. i really want to make it faster and more stable. more than once have i been on a hill reding with my buddy and have to slam and the brakes, the wheels lock up and catch something.  throw the back end /engine over and take me with it not so fun

Thats the same exact kind of tranny thats on my Stallion, i just couldnt describe it very well. the only problem with the tranny is the bottom aluminum "disc" is warped so unless i can figure out how to un-warp it, i have to get a whole new tranny
Gotta love a good 'ol Briggs Flathead!
