#25 flat head briggs ?
« on: July 31, 2010, 02:26:50 pm »
alright i ask for help on a #25 briggs all your input  was great, very helpful but just a couple more ? if i could. I have two of these motors already thinking of getting a billet rod new pistion and rings and balance the crank or i see someone makes a billet rod for the stock balance will this work? then i see what you call threads about using a 25 for a boat anchors i'm unable to find a 28 yet but wondering if i should look a little hard for a 28 and about carbs one piece ? three piece  what the diff. before any posts it ,two more pieces  again im drag racing this motor on a budget will a umgovern 28/25 motor  have a chance against mostly stock 18 hp vtwins
Sometimes i use my own ideas, even if others think i'm wrong.

it would be worth your time to find a 28, as for carbs the 2 piece walbro carbs are the best if you have to run a stock carb, i would say you will prolly be hard pressed to keep up with the v-twins but that depends on alot of factors as well!

i'd suggest to find a crank out of a 28 and make a stroker, watch this video i made it explains how to do it and what the differences are between the 2 motors.

I ran a 25 "Cool Bore" for a few years, I found a crank out of a horizontal 25 and eliminated the Syncro balance system, it ran very well. With that you could get the ARC rod and AVS piston but you would need to use the iron bore block.

What rod and piston combo did you build a stoker with. Wasn't a stock length rod and stock piston it pops out too much and would require cutting the top ring off. Or at very least the top ring land is so thin it will colapse once it starts to run.

in the video i talked about this, as i said i didn't "build it" but just put the crank rod and piston into place on what would be TDC, and it stuck out about a 1/4 inch. and the block and cam has to be grinded to clearance the bigger crank throw. it takes a 28 rod and piston, doesn't arc make a slightly shorter rod for the 28? and use their magnesium piston, which i thought they had a shorter piston too, i know they have a shorter skirt one but yeah... haha it's interesting to think to about, and i'm gonna do it eventually.

No there is no rod for the setup you are referring to. Thats why I asked. If you do it you will have toi make a rod specifically for it.

sorry i misunderstood you. well there you go, remember a few weeks i started a topic talkin bout making connectings rods? well this is gonna be my first "rod-project" :-P i bet a 25 stroker would be a good little engine, yeah it would be pretty much the same as a 28, but it's interesting because its unusual, and nothing else it would make a great engine to cut grass with hahahaha
