« on: July 24, 2010, 09:01:31 am »
im builting a drag racing lawn mower for 100ft track with 11hp briggs 25 27 07  im lookin for a connecting rod that is billet because i think that is the weakest link. The 11hp  which rod will work in this motor do i need to upgrade the pistion? due to the cost i want to run the stock fly wheel if i put a sheild on the motor is this safe with a ungoverned engine? any cost effective motor upgrade or tips will help
Sometimes i use my own ideas, even if others think i'm wrong.

You would be better off finding a 28 cube motor.

But the ARC billet rod will fit the 11 hp you have.  You also need to balance the crank so you can remove the synchro balance, that is the weakest link.

Your stock flywheel will be fine as long as you don't modify it.

You want to look at the model number on the motor shroud.  The first 2 numbers will be 28 for a 12hp or 12.5hp motor.  Get a set or arc brass weights to balance the crank.  It elliminates the heavy cast syncro balancer.  Also, yes you have to buy a new piston with the billet rod because it is longer in lenghth.

to keep your cost down, yes the billet rod, get a piston for a 28" AVS engine, new model 15 or 16hp ohv engine. i cant get the specific model # you will need or the part # on the piston, but these gentlemen of infinite wisdom will have the part # for the piston on their sleeve. piston and rings set will cost about 40. if that helps any.

Go to EC site look up the model 28 flathead  parts numbers and prices are all there, If it fits the 28 it will fit the 25. (11)
