Topic: photo or diagram request, Kaw fc420v in Deere 240

I have a John Deere 240 with a Kawasaki fc420v engine.  The tractor was given to me some time ago due to it's previous owner attempting to jump start it from their car,  but reversing polarity (some people...)
When I got it, it was missing the battery, starter, ignition switch and several other parts.  I have everything replaced EXCEPT for the wiring that goes from battery (positive) to the starter. 
I don't know if it is supposed to have a solenoid or relay or ???  nor do I know which starter post the positive cable goes to.

Anyone have any photos of this motor and what it is SUPPOSED to look like?

I've looked and looked but haven't been able to find any pictures, schematics or diagrams.
Any help would be most appreciated.
