Got given a camshaft that is perfect for the 13 HP sidevalve engine I am building but don't know what it is out of. It has a thin gear with big slots in it the same as an OHV Intek but has the same lobe profile and orientation as a sidevalve and no slot for an oil pump drive. The lobes are splined on same as an Intek. Any ideas?

Hey Baz, You are way too nosey but I didn't let out any of my sidevalve secrets. Thanks for the upload offer but I think The Husky Kid can help if I can stop him from admiring his big shiny trophy for long enough.

Please view attached pic. The cam on the right is a stock sidevalve cam. The one on the left is the cam I can't identify. I have compared this cam with an OHV cam and it is way different.

Cam on the left does not hold up well under race conditions. Best to have the one on the right reground and lightened. Will last and do the job you need as long as you need it.

Thanks for that George. Where can I get cam specs from so I can get it ground locally. I'm in New Zealand. We run windy short tracks here and grunt out of corners is important.

Good question not sure if any cam makers will give up their grind specs... Give Mike a call at precision cams.
