OHV single roller rocker bridge
« on: May 03, 2010, 10:49:20 am »
I took a few pictures of the bridge I make to go along with the roller rockers. It keeps the rocker studs from pulling out of the head. I've been running dual EC springs on both valves with this setup and haven't had any problems, yet. I got the idea from Tommy (Huffy047). I believe he makes and sells them if anybody wants one.

Why didn't I think of that!

I built a plate to go under mine.  It was a pain!

If anyone needs bolts for the roller rockers to make a plate I had to buy a box when I did mine...........so I have some spares!!!  High quality bolts from Fastenall, just like what comes with the rocker arms, just longer.  1 side does need to be cut off or it bottoms out in the intake port.  PM me if interested, I can find out what I paid for them.   Will sell them at my cost plus a couple bucks for shipping.

I'd be interesed to know if the bridge will work with the dual springs WITHOUT the plate underneath.

Jim, next time at least set the metal object on a rag or something so you dont scratch the paint.

The white paint is pretty tough, it's a GM color. Now the Ford tangerine orange... that's a different story! It's chipped up all over the place!

Paul, I'm not running a plate underneath anymore, but I do have a washer and a nut under the easy one to get to.

Also, because I have the head shaved I make a steel shim to go under the mounting bar for the roller rockers so the adjuster screws thread the whole way through the rocker arm. Without the shim they just catch a couple of threads. Then, on the underside of the bridge I run a couple of beads of weld, then grind it down smooth to where it just rocks a little bit on the mounting bar for the roller rockers. I also drill the two holes in the head (the ones that hold the bridge down) the whole way down through the top part of the head so I can thread them the whole way down & use 5/16"x1" allen head bolts (the same size as the ones that hold the exhaust header on to the head).

I still run the stock exhaust valves. EC has a bigger and better intake valve.
