First Racer Build-----Would like help----from iowa
« on: April 25, 2010, 09:50:27 pm »
I have a craftsman with a 19hp briggs and stratton. I already have the deck removed. I am 5'10 125. I'm thinking about doing sport mod. My mower is currently all stock besides the deck being removed. I live in iowa. The rules are:

Engine must maintain stock outward appearance, with the exception of the
air filter, air cleaner or velocity stack.
• Crankshaft must be in original orientation and clearance hole in the frame.
• Engine may be internally modified.
• 39” minimum wheelbase
• Mid-engine frames not allowed
• 5” minimum front wheels, 6” minimum rear wheels
• Crankshaft must be in original orientation

If you would like more information go to:       http://cprraceway.webs.com/2010rulespointrace.htm

Thanks for everyones help

Where in IOWA are you? There are lots of guys around who can help.

I'm fairly sure those rules are going to be changed next year.  Build to USLMRA specs. That is your best option here in Iowa.  Then you can race anywhere.

I live in Northwestern part of iowa right now, but I have family in Central, Iowa that I visit once or a couple times a month. Do you know any of the people or any groups that are in my area? Thanks.

I helped get the Central Iowa track off the ground, you have any questions please let me know. I do agree with Paul on building to the US rules, it gives you more options down the road. But if you want to get started with our current rules (not all that much different than US and ARMA) build it and come on down, we'll find a place for you! You should plan a trip to see your family on May 9th and check it out. All 3 sets of rules are on our web site.

I'm going to build my mower USLMRA rules and regulations. Any suggestions on how to build my mower? Maybe I will come check out the track May 9. If I don't have my mower done by then maybe I will come and check it out and get some ideas if thats cool with everyone. When I got the mower it didn't come with the deck so for now I will have to run it the a home made deck ro what ever its called. Any suggestions on what or how to build my mower would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

SOOOOOOOOO Northwest Iowa.  North of I80 and West of I35.  Town???  Lots of guy willing to help, we need to know who you are close to so you can get some help!!!!!

The CPLMRA has some good mowers, but not all meet US spec, so be sure to ask when you look at the mowers.  I'm not going to make it to the race on the 9th.  Still planting.  If your close enough I OWN 3 US legal mowers and have access to 6 others.

I'll show you my trophy room if you want too!!!!!!!!!

As far as the deck, you will need one.  I have several you can cut up and use!
