12 horse overheating

i am clueless now. i adjusted the valves messed around with the carb and all that stuff and my motor is overheating like turning the muffler a different color its so hot. stock motor and stock rpms i dont know what else to do and if i turn it off it wont turn back until it cools off

Sounds like the main carb. jet has some varnish build up and restricting the main fuel flow. I have run into this on some customers generator units. You either need the replace the carb. or remove the main jet and open it a bit with something like a torch tip cleaner. Also make sure all the air covers are installed and deflecting the cooling air to the right places. Hope this helps.

I agree with Kerry on this.. I have learned to keep a torch cleaner in my tool box..

These carbs are quite simple.. rip it apart and give it a good soak in cleaner. I run the torch cleaner through every opening in the carb. Just because it looks clean on the surface doesn't mean it isn't clogged inside the passage.

I wire wheel the choke and throttle plates and  while it's apart.
