I would love to get my hands on one of the smaller chassis! It's just I’ve not seen any around here.

As for the engine being between yours legs…

It is a little un nerving to think about something bad happening… but like you said…

I’ve never seen it either.  What I have seen is engines breaking the side cases and what not, but never anything coming straight out the head.

I recently had a 31 Briggs flatty blow a cylinder apart.  We believe it was a bad sleeve.  The piston skirt came out through the side of the cylinder right beside my foot.  If the engine was turned around like this one it would be about mid-thigh or higher.  If I were to race a mid engine mower I would want a scattershield of some sort.

I have the motor in my FX backwards and i love it . first off it looks weird , and the best part of it is that it faces the carb FORWARD to catch as much air as possiable .

Just an Update On What I have Been Doin
should have pics comin soon, but I have finished the steering ,made a new steering support and started painting the hood , fenders , header , dash panel and primed the chassis.was goin to install the gas tank but ran into a little problem,I was planning on using the original fuel hole in the hood, but come to find when I made the steering support I didn't think about the where the fuel tank is goin.so,now I have to relocate the tank. Also I have been at a hault on the throttle set up.haven't decided on what to use yet.other than that it's really starting to look nice.

it was painted on the pool table  not....it was painted out in the garage, but if I would of painted on the pool table it might of turned out better though , the lighting is so much better.  I did have it assembled and did take it out for trial run,but it failed miserably.throttle cable wasn't workin like it was suppose to,had to change engines, put old faithful back in.goin to finish painting chassis and reassemble and take out for trial run , then if everything goes good,I'll stud up a set a tires for jan.27th ice races.
