Running a built motor
« on: March 30, 2010, 02:45:56 pm »
I'm taking the plunge and getting ready to pick up an EC built motor. Now, after some recent conversation, I'm wondering if running the Twelve Mile 500 (60 laps on a quarter mile ag lime track) will be too much. The race is always on July 4, so it's in the heat of the summer at the hottest part of the day. Thoughts on if this is too much strain/fatigue on a built motor, even one expertly prepared like an EC 28?

I would not run that motor for that long a time at one time. It would prolly be OK but alot invested to trash it in that kind of an event. Its more a sprint motor not an endurance motor.

That's what I was thinking. Twelve Mile's not like any of the sanctioned races. It's grueling.

Are you really going to run Twelve Mile this year ?  I've been waiting three years to beat you.

Guess you just lost your Mowmentum sponsorship!

Stop by the garage sometime. I'll show you what I've been working on... and share a beverage. Dang snowbirds just getting back from Florida.
