they onyl make three Techumseh OHV V-twins tvt-691 and the vtx-691 and the ov691ep they are all the same basic motor, and all rods pistons cranks and cams are all the same. The biggest differeance I am aware of the VTX model has a beefier rocker assy, and port angles a tiny bit different in the VTX (New Head design I am Told) but all are legal as a BP motor. But as with the Briggs Model 404777 intek V-twin they are sold as many different HP engines but all are same. Simply remove the hp sticker if its larger than a 20hp. They all come rated from a 18 to 22 or 23 hp engine. This is not wrong. They are more Briggs out there right now than Tecumseh's or Indians as I call them. BUT there is no substitue for cubic inches and the indian and Intek Briggs has the most out there. I have a Vangaurd and a Indian/Tecumseh I like both. Both have there tracks that one is better than the other but you can't have the best of both worlds at the same time. The Indians are generally cheaper and there are parts available for them now!!!

A good cam, good valve springs and retainers, good port work, ARC rods and flywheel, and a set of E.C. Built and blue printed dominater series carbs. And it will run with the best of them.
You can do it all cept the carbs.

We replace them with a larger carb. And they are woiked over pretty good. It is identical on the outside but the inside is a whole nother story. Prices start at 238.95 for the dominater series, and goes as high as 600.00 for the stage 3. And the dominater series is a huge step up from a factory carb. I am running a set of dominater series on my Tecumseh twin. They are awesome. I ain't just saying that because I work there either.
