Ok fellas...been busy lately and think i got burnt out and was losin interest but a little wicked brought his kawi powered mtd over this weekend and remotivated me!!
So i got my axle built and welded in. I used 1 5/8 .083 wall chromoly round tube. My spindles are stepped 5/8 to 3/4 with 1/2 inch bearings. I used the 2 piece endplates from ec as well. My heims all come from Jegs. To get it all fitted i welded two 4 inch long pieces of conduit to the frame to set ride height and that is exactly where it ended up at!!! Lots of pics in this thread as I have a lot to catch up on.
As I said this is how i welded the conduit on the frame.
In a few hours it will all be one piece!!!
This is going to be my spindle bolt set up. I am not sure if the castellated set up is needed but it sure cant hurt!!
Here is my first endplate all put together.
Spindle and shims in..
Well here i set all the angles where i am starting my chassis tuning from. Then tack welded them to the table at desired angle to notch the end of the axle tube to match my kpi angle. call it cheatin or whatever, i call it the benefits of a steel workbench!!!
Another shot from the side..
Axle tube with end plates welded to
Axle assembled and ready to weld in
In the frame to stay!!!!
My purty new front tires and wheels.
Axle is in and settin on all fours!!!!
At this point it feels like i have crossed the mountain but a TON more to do!!
