First off, it's good to be passionate about education. There's is nothing to be sorry about when it comes to that.
From what I've gathered, here's what I think the criteria should be.
Step one, a cover letter to Aaron that only I will read.
Include:
*Relationship to racing (racer, racer's child, track volunteer)
*Community involvement with contact information
*Extra curricular activities (Youth Group, basketball, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Speech Club, 4-H)
*What the scholarship will be applied toward (books, lab deposits, room/board)
*Contact information for fact-checking sources.
* Minimum 2.0 GPA
* High School Senior or post-secondary student (college or trade)
The majority of the scholarship will be based on a 1,000 word minimum essay, graded by myself and a few others (Jason[Wheelhorseracer]) I'd like you to be one, and I'd like at least two other from different regions to score these on an anonymous basis.
Essays can be based on any of the following story ideas
A. Alternative fuels and the potential in mower racing
B. Genders in racing
C. utilizing education for mower racing hobby
D. Racing's effect on the environment, positive or negative
E. Profile one of the pioneers in the sport (must be done by phone or in person/No emails)
F. Mower racing's impact on local tourism, local businesses.
G. Lessons learned through mower racing that are applicable to every day life.
The Mowmentum Scholarship will not discriminate against race, creed, religion or gender.
But, I can't stress this enough, this is all based on Mowmentum's success and the continued advertising support. Roughly $35 a month to fund the scholarship and to generate a big enough trust to keep the monies fresh and self sustaining for future years.
