horzontal and vertical interchangability!!
« on: September 15, 2006, 12:59:44 am »
I have a friend who is willing to give me a vertical shaft kohler command v twin and i was wandering if all the parts for the horizontal shaft motors are interchangable with the vertical shaft engines. if so you could build a mean kohler if not then its no more than a boat anchor to me because it needs major head work to get it running again. any help would be greatly appreciated.

I think this would maybe be the guy to talk to on the Kohler Gunz.

If he's building and selling them he obviously knows something!

I have a Uncle and a freind that both use Kohler command engines on there pulling tractors. They both are very impressive. One of them is real close to 60 hp on the dyno. The other has some Midwest supercub parts in it but still has the stock cam in it. They sound real mean as well

I believe the cam, heads, push rods, rods and pistons will work because the stock parts have the same part numbers.  Midwest Super Cub, Command Performance and Lokota Racing all have a pile of parts available for the horizontal engine.  I haven't tried it yet but I have been doing some research and it looks like most stuff will work.

Links for the other two... Command Performance was not an easy find!

You might also want to see the link bottom right of the Command Performance homepage, says they'll answer any question you might have!
