3/4 live axle
« on: October 14, 2009, 05:40:41 pm »
How well do you think a 3/4 live axle (i believe its a steel that is used for hydraulic cylinder rods, its chromed) would hold up?Because I have this at the moment but if it wont hold up then ill go 1 1/4. Oh and its a farly smooth track, with an ocassional bump or two.

It will probaly bend quickly but if its for one race then it should be fine but i think its gona be more money buying the bearings then have to buy new bearings for a 1 1/4 inch and why dont you just go with a 1 inch axle?

DO NOT USE THE 3/4 axle... if you have the choice use a 1 1/4 moly axle. I bent 4 1 inch axles in one season.. save the hassle and go with the 1 1/4

If it is a rod from a hydraulic cylinder, I doubt you'd bend it easily. Problem is you won't do any machine work to it easily either. they are case hardened and extremely tough.
