Sorry... :-[

From what I've been reading, "Turf Saver" tires are the reccomended tire
"pattern" for the rear...

True or False...?

Secondly...My mower came with straight "Rib" tires on the front...are
these any good, or should I run out and get some 6" Turf savers" for the
front...??

Depending on class, the turf saver is a good tire and cheap its okay in
SP and I don't like it in BP to me this is a loose tire it doesn't get
alot of forward traction. Imow it doesn't really matter since it isn't a
high hp machine. I personally like the turf master by carlisle for the
front no matter what the class. It is a high traction tire and we ride
ill handling machines designed to do 8mph. So I really like the turf
master up front, they work well on rims from 5" wide to 7.25 wide. your
choice. Sp I prefer the turf pro by carlisle for the year and BP I
prefer the turf master for the rear,
These are again just my opinions, tires are really a personal
preferance. The rib tires I can tell you will not get any traction. So I
would for sure find something else for the front.

A lot of our Group 4 (tractor) racers over here have started using what we call "aggressive fronts". AFAIK these are a Trelleborg tyre - everyone seems to have been quite impressed with them. Pics below:

The first pics is the aggressive front - second shows it compared to a Turf Saver

Not sure how these would go over your side of the pond - we tend to run on much rougher and twistier tracks and in all weathers over here.

I holeheartally agree with goerge on the turf masters up front on my sp and that after trying several others on a loose clay track, However i would like to know what it is about the turf pro that you like on the rear, and why goerge? As I am looking for something other than the turfsavers I'm running now. Why do I like the turf pro's? Well honestly theyare as close to a competion tire as you can get and still run a lawn mower tire. They look act and drive like a hoosier dirt tire. They  are good on all surfaces they seem to provide just enogh slip and just enough traction all the time. They respond well to air pressure adjustments. They are very low profile. The side wall flex is minimal. I do not know of any thing bad or lacking I could say about them. I am running them on both BP's NOW also.

Threw a set of 20x8x8 dimple-knobby quad tire on mine this summer......... they hooked up really well, as I expected, and if I hammered on it too hard off the start, I can actually do wheelies which was fun :D, but making any quick turns led to some instability because they held the ground almost too well - I think I'll either end up going back to the Turf Masters next year because they hold the ground really well, but allow for a little bit of drifting without being out of control.
