i have a 98 mtd 14hp 38inch cut and we put a small pulley on the differential and a big one on the engine. but something in the differential is robbing horsepower. is there anything i can remove from it to gain speed?

What kind of trans axle do you have in there...
Is it a "Vari Drive"..? Hydro Drive..??
Or is it possible you are "overgeared" (too big and too small) and are just not transfering torque at the right rpm range..?

anything
