Nope not a mower, A kart built with a mowe engine and trans don't make em mowers. I have never been able to find a site or rules or anything on em. They are still active though the photographer has picytures up on his site link previous page of recent events.
Don't even have a clue where they are from

Im part of the group nlmro in upstate new york we don’t have a site we did at one time we just got a new president of the club and hope for many changes in 2010. We are affiliated with uslmra as of 2009. There are 5 classes as of now small block stock, big block stock and super stock and must be stock appearing. Then we have mod and super mod we voted on changes to the bodies and frame over the years.  In the super mod class we can make our own frames and have to meet spec and custom front axle. We have to run a lawn mower engine any v twin open and a lawnmower trans or gear box belt driven from engine to gear box and must use lawnmower tires width is 42 inches. The bodies started some time ago before I came around to this sport they used to run ford frames and just put the bodies on them for looks mostly because we live in dirt mod area. As in racing things change for a safety and speed, so in that super mod pic of mine is a 09 build. I agree that it don’t look like a lawn tractor but all u got to do is take the body off and there it looks like a lawnmower with no hood, fenders, dash and a frame with out a million holes in it, and a wheel base a little longer for a big guy like me

It is built for "like" vehicles, that is one of the classes they race, don't think they will ever race with you so I wouldn't worry about it. I also think they are alot more mower than you think.

if it didn't start out as a mower then it will never be a mower, regardless of what mower parts get put on a kart chassis! yea it is cool, but if the chassis, engine, and sheetmetal isn't of mower origin, then it isn't a mower!

i agree with matt if it doesnt look like a mower it just aint a mower.. i think if your going to do that you might as well race go-karts. and super mod have you ever tryed venom juice tire prep. we run it on our karts and it is amazing and the guy that sells it is a super nice guy and backs his product up 100%. Also i have met uncle frank, he is a super nice guy and will do anything for a low budget racer like me.

These guys came to moosemountainspeedway last year and ran they put on a great show and the crowd
loved them.
They ran by them self but there were enough of them it was a great show it was a points race for there club.
But they are custom built and they look like miney mods when they run.

Guys whether your for it or against it, you have to admit there are pretty cool little machines.

Look at it like this.... When they started racing stock cars on dirt they all looked like stock cars, then with time the Late models, open wheel modifieds' , and sprint cars (outlaws) came along   they looked nothing like a stock car yet they are the most watched class in Dirt track racing today.

When Drag racing started, they raced cars right off the street.... then along came the Dragster.. they absolutely don't look like any car I have ever seen on the street, yet they are the ones everybody wants to see.

I guess my point is.... Why stand against something that might possibly be the thing brings your form of racing to the main stream?
You don't have to build to that class.. You don't have to race in that class..... Heck you don't have to like it.... But why try to stop it?     Natural evolution of the sport.. open your minds up and keep moving.

Well said Ron. Look at ARMA and its two newest classes. I too was brain washed by the it ain't a mower syndrome. But hey I was one of the first to want one. I have one and I will say this yes its a mower but IT IS built DIFFERENT. IT is FUN it is SAFE it is DIFFERENT. I have as much fun with it as I do any of my more conventional builds. You can't turn it over even loosing a right rear showed how stable they are. AND lets face it the crowds do like em. While these things are different they are cool as Heck. I would love to see em in action. I would not want to flip in one but they would be cool to watch. It is evolution. Folks have different ideas they do what works for them or what works in their area to draw spectators to stir interest to grow the sport. I have looked at ALOT of thier pictures on the photographers site. While they look like they are made to run close rub and bump everyone's mowers has good straight clean panels. If they are so rough you could never tell it by the pics. But hey they are cool as heck. Even if I do like the full bodied look better like a late model. But hey some say our Super Mods are not mowers either, these guys are like them different. So be it. Good job. And they do look cool.
