metal head gasket for opposed twins?
« on: June 16, 2009, 10:51:28 pm »
Hey guys I been searching high and low for 2 weeks for a pair of metal head gaskets for an opposed briggs, with no luck.
Does anyone know if there is even such a thing? Or who has them?  I been thinking of having copper ones custom made.

I searched high and low for these gaskets too.  I couldnt find them either so I ended up going with the graphite ones.  I have a few older motors at the cabin I am going to pull the heads on and see if they have the metal gaskets. Other than that, I dont know where you would get them.

Why not make your own? Copper is readily available on line (I used .040) I sandwitiched the copper between two peices of plywood, layed the stock gasket over this, , ran bolts through the holes as I drilled them. don't for get to anneal them and use copper coat.

yeah I just got 2 of these today, and going to give them a try.

I been thinking of doing that. I just don't have the time on my hands I used to. My boss has been keeping me really busy trying to finish up a brand new 1967 galaxie 500 fastback. He's got around $100k invested, and getting pushy about the deadline to finish it by friday, so he can get paid.
