I have been reading up on the posts, I would say change rod. I had one rod do the same thing, temporarily ground the rod cap. replacing rod with ohv or an ARC rodshould alieviate the prblem. Also to clear things up, is it a aftermarket stock rod or genuine briggs?. Reguardless, change out the rod. The stock ones suck. Trust me , went thru 6 last season, until I change over to the ohv rod.

When you are checking clearence is it with the oil slinger in place under the cam, if it's not the cam will sit approx. 1/16" to 3/32" lower in the block. That may not sound like much but sometimes a little goes a long way.

First off i want to thank everyone who has replied. When we first started to clearance everything we had the motor upside down. We thought it was all clearanced so we installed the slinger and the right gasket for our endplay. We then set the motor in our stand right side up.when we turned it over by hand the interference came back. Devin's father is using a blue dye tonight to try and find the contact.

Dan, do you run an ohv rod in yours. We do have it clearing now, it was hitting on the top rod bolt and also the rod cap. Thank you everyone for the help. I think most people are running the ohv rod. If anyone has the model # off one that would be great. Thanks.

Hey Devin glad your motor is together.  To answer your question, I am not running an ohv rod.  Just a stock briggs with the same size rod bolts.  Hope to see ya sunday.
