AP/Mini Final Ratio?????
« on: May 27, 2009, 05:54:55 pm »
Ok I am finishing up a AP/Mini build. This is my first build. I have a 8hp briggs With a G-team cam and a ARC flywheel and a 700 Trans. I am running 13 x 6.50 tires all the way around. What I am wanting to know is what final ratio would be best? I am running a 6in engine pulley and a 4in trans pulley. I have both a 12 and 15 trans sproket and a 46 tooth axle sproket. I am trying to figure out if i need to order another axle sproket or if i can use what i got. Thanks in advance.

I like a 7" engine, 4 1/2" trans, in third with a 13 tooth drive and 40 tooth driven

Gives a 6.5 or so to one final ratio and I run on 175 to 200 foot straights motor turns around 7200 rpm

This is Sami with her first race/ first win in the prepared class A/P with that ratio

I made this MSExcel sheet to help me figure out ratios, maybe it will help someone else too. If you use it and find errors in my math, please let me know so I can correct it and post a new version or you can fix it and repost. It will work in MSWord, but you may want to copy and paste it to Excel. I ported it to Word to get around the limits of file types you can attach to a post. Any way use it, toss it what ever you want to do with it.
