Axles/Brakes:

For a BP build:  What diameter axle is recommended---1" or 1 1/4"?  How about the length? So many to choose from....

I want to put hydraulic brakes on the machine so what brand seems to do the job for everyone?  What size (diameter) brake disc? Any information about master cylinder, calipers, pads, etc. would be helpful, and appreciated.

Either size axle works,  but the 1-1/4 is in my opinion the better axle. You can get better bearings and cassettes and find parts easier for the 1-1/4 axle. 34" is wide enough unless you run under another club that runs wider than USLMRA which is 38" sidewall to sidewall. MCP brakes are about the best bang for the buck. complete kit from APS for either axle runs 170.00. The bigger the brake disk the easier it stops or locks the wheels.
