Drag/ high speed tires
« on: April 21, 2009, 09:04:09 pm »
Didn't know whether to post this in tires or here.

Anyways, what tires are you guys running on your mowchines? I find that my turf-masters are expanding and rubbing on my fender, and I am askeered of them one day exploding on me while I am going fast. I would like to find a reasonably priced tire that comes in basic lawn-mower sizes and can handle speeds of 60+ mph.

Are you dirt racing or drag racing, topic title confused me. If you are drag racing use Jr. Dragster tires, if your dirt racing almost all clubs say you have to  run mower tires so theres not much we can do there. Has anyone had a real problem with mower tires?

A golfkart tire is nothing like a Jr Dragster tire. TWO total different tires designed for two total different jobs.

there are alot of diff golf cart tires tredded and non tread. yes it will be quite a bit harder compound but as far as lawnmower drags go they have worked fine and hook up great. (For us). we are also racing on a prepped track which has alot to do with the traction.

They are a slick and they are harder and heavier BUT were not designed as a high speed drag tire now were they. Now that does not mean that won't work but the topic and question was for High Speed Drag tires, to to say a golf kart tire regardless of tread is even remotely the same is an incorrect statement. Thats the point I am trying to get across. It has nothing to do with whether ti works or not.

I would go with the JR Dragster slick.. it is purposely built for grip on the dragstrip..

Golf tires are like run a street tire on the dragstrip.. you are giving up too much grip because they are designed for mileage and not grip.
